CEA Dublin has planned an activity for me to do almost every week since I’ve been here. We’ve learned how to Irish dance, did an International food night, went bowling, and enjoyed a day trip to Glendalough. Irish dancing was a blast! It was an amazing new experience, as everything else has been, to learn some traditional Irish entertainment. I loved International food night. It was truly amazing to see and taste all the diversity in cultures around the world through their different foods. The Irish blood sausage was…

So London! I would suggest a longer visit when you stay here, but one day was still amazing. I went with three quality people, John, Cara, and Alex. Our squad felt like we did really well keeping a faster pace but still being able to take the destination in. Our flight left at 6:30am and then back to Dublin for 8:30. We were in the city centre for about ten hours and walked over 7 miles. It was a delightful trip. Throughout the first few weeks of my time in Dublin, Ireland I had the experience of seeing a brand new country with an excited spirit. There is nothing like being in  a new environment and knowing that I have 4 months to explore, experience, and take in all of the beauty. These pictures showcase some of the beauty that I found in my first few weeks abroad. Coffee shops with the best goat cheese and pepper sandwich, hidden gems among the neighborhood I live in, commemoration of Pope…

Documenting my experience abroad hasn’t been easy. Finding the time to journal has been difficult between school, friends, and unexpected occurrences (such as getting sick). However, it’s really important to me that I remember my time in Ireland and I try to write in my journal once every few days. I find it very therapeutic and I know I’ll appreciate being able to look back and read about what I went through while I was abroad and how I’ve changed. Here are some of my tips on how…

Follow me around my apartment in Archway Court, meet my roommates, and take a small look into our life here in Dublin! In our apartment there are 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and the living space. All of the bedroom look similar to the mine which I showed in the video. The community here in Archway Court is more than I could have asked for and I am so excited for the next 2 months! Sloan Strickland is the Spring 2016 CEA MOJO Photographer in…

tudy abroad, studying abroad, study abroad in Dublin

Classes at CEA started two weeks ago, so now I have a pretty good feel for what the classes are like. One of the main reasons people choose the Dublin program is because of the service learning program that’s offered.  The service learning program gives students the chance to volunteer abroad and help others while they’re here. I’m not in the service learning program because I’m taking a lot of course credit while I’m here and my class load is pretty heavy. However, one of my roommates, Sloan,…

Preparing for studying abroad has been hectic, to say the least. Keeping up with all the documents I need in order to study in Ireland has been the most stressful part. I’ve also been reading approximately a thousand ‘How to Pack for a Semester Abroad’ articles and then going to my wardrobe, which is tailored for Southern Texas weather, to see what will work for winter in Dublin. So far I’ve found a pair of wool socks. Oh, and finals week just ended. Essentially, these last few weeks…

One of my favorite things to do in my spare time in Ireland is to hike. My roommates and I love packing our bags and heading out of the city to enjoy the Irish countryside and fresh air. It makes for a good break from the hustle and bustle of the city and to clear our heads from a long week at work. Hiking in Ireland is fairly easy to do because the island is so small. Public transportation makes it easy to get to these sites and…

The stunning beauty of Ireland is no myth: The country has colorful cities and miles of green scenery. The history and culture of Ireland only adds to the stories surrounding the views. One of my favorite things to do while basking in the beauty of Ireland is hiking coastal and cliff trails. The country is chalked full with them since it is surrounded by water, an advantage for those of use who can’t get enough. Walks can be long or short, packed with tourists or desolate, paved or natural….

I spent a semester studying abroad with CEA in Barcelona, but interning for the summer in Dublin has been an unparalleled experience. I never would have expected such a stark contrast between studying and working abroad, but I feel as though I could never have prepared myself for just HOW different my time in Dublin would be. When I spent a semester studying abroad, I focused on packing as much as I could into a 5 month time period. I mean, I had all of Europe at my…
