Studying abroad, as my teachers always say is mainly about the “studying” part. I agree to disagree with this statement. I think that this adventure is more about learning rather than actual studying. Moving to a different country, living with people who you don’t know, going to a new school and exploring the world is a major learning experience in itself. Yes, studying for your classes is very important, but I have learned more by experiencing life during these past four months, than I ever could have in…

I don’t think that the saying, “time flies when you’re having fun” has ever been more relevant to my life than at this very moment. Each month here feels like a week, and each week seems to go by faster and faster. As I approach the last few weeks of my adventure, it is bittersweet. I have seen some of the most incredible places in the world, met friends that I have countless memories with and have honestly been living in a dream world for the past four…

study abroad, studying abroad, study abroad in Florence

Before my time here abroad, I would scroll through the Instagram’s of students who were in the position I am in now, and see that they were in a different country every single weekend. I thought that what I was seeing was crazy and impossible. However, I am now three months in to my program and I highly recommend traveling to other countries during your study program. Planning trips can get stressful at times, but I am here to give you some tips on how to plan a…

This video was created to give you a taste of Florence and a all that it has to offer! It is impossible to capture all that this amazing city has to offer in just a few minutes, but I hope that this gives you a glimpse of how beautiful this place truly is. Ciao! I have created a video that depicts my everyday life here in Florence. My routine differs slightly from day to day but always includes, beautiful views, delicious food and even better company. Each and every day is exciting and there never seems to be a dull moment here in Florence! Samara R. is the Spring 2017 MOJO Blogger in Florence, Italy. This past weekend, CEA planned a daytrip to Siena, Italy for all of the students studying in Florence. Excursions, like this one, are included in the cost of the program. Therefore, I try and take advantage of all that there is to offer. I wasn’t very familiar with the city Siena, besides the fact that my Italian teacher is from there and seems to love it! The forecast for the day was not promising, but my friends and I were still excited to explore the city. I always…

Packing for Florence is a mess to say the least. I must have repacked my bags three times switching around different items and making sure I didn’t exceed the weight limit at the airport. Depending on what time of the year you will be traveling, my advice is to bring warmer clothes than you would expect to have to wear in Italy. I came to Florence thinking that an oversize denim jacket (this being my heaviest article of clothing) would keep me warm. Boy was I in for…

Florence is a city filled with life, love and some of the greatest places I have encountered while being abroad. One great thing about this city is that you will never have a dull moment. Around each corner is a new café waiting for your arrival. Beauty is everywhere in this city and the views are unlike anything you’ve seen. Need a new purse? No worries, there are fifteen stores to choose from while staying on the same block. For all of you shopaholics out there, this is the…

During our study abroad program, CEA gives us many opportunities to be involved in cultural engagement activities. The first activity that I attended was the Artisanal Paper workshop. Marbled paper made its debut in the 15th century but now is exclusive to Florence. With this being said, what better place to create a handmade paper box or journal than in Florence? Other students and I from our program chose to participate in creating a handmade paper box. A master craftswoman from Atelier Degli Articianelli, an institute here in…

Ciao Bella! For those of you who do not speak Italian, Hello Beautiful! Yes, I am referring to Florence, my new home and the most beautiful place I have been thus far. I arrived here just a few short weeks ago and I instantly fell in love with the city and all that it has to offer. My Journey Here After somehow packing four months of clothes into two bags, navigating through three different airports and making some friends along the way, I made it to Firenze! For…
