“A wall is a very big weapon. It’s one of the nastiest things you can hit someone with.” – Banksy Once home to renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, Barcelona is considered one of Europe’s greatest artistic hubs. While there was once a rich culture of urban art in Barcelona, today the city primarily maintains aspects of its artistic legacy through a diverse array of museums and galleries. Around 15 years ago, Barcelona’s city counsel initiated an effort to clean up the city by implementing…

Barcelona is filled with incredible restaurants, museums, historic sites, and much much more. A walking tour is an amazing way to see it all. Follow me through the streets of Barcelona and experience everything that the city has to offer! Alison H. is the Spring 2018 MOJO Photographer in Barcelona, Spain.   Curiosity and creativity lie at the core of who I am as a cognitive science major. The field is unique in that it is a blend of many disciplines. It encompasses psychology, philosophy, computer science, and more, and integrates them into a comprehensive major for those who want to learn it all. In many ways, I have found Barcelona to be a lot like cognitive science. It is a blend of rich culture and history, beautiful beaches, delicious food, and exciting nightlife. I studied abroad to expand my…

There wasn’t a moment, or person, or second that made me fall in love with London. I wish there was one single defining moment that made it for me because it would make it easier to explain my experience abroad. The life here, the people here, the food, the culture—the London is all apart of what made this whole experience abroad something more magical than I expected. At first, I didn’t want to be here. The overwhelming new city experience enveloped me and made it so difficult. Talking to…

As my semester comes to a close, I’ll give you future Londoners some observations that I have recognized through my time here. London is amazing and seeing the little nuances make me want to come back in a heartbeat. Myth busted: They say that British students are on time and being on time means being ten minuets early. They are on time, except it’s right on the dot or five to ten minuets later. Everyone is super polite… like a little too nice & no, they’re not trying to con you. Pants…

One second a day filled with images and video of my time here in London. While it was quick to go, the experience was worth it! Michelle M. is the Fall 2016 CEA MOJO in London, England. She is currently a senior studying Cinema Art and Science and Photography at Columbia College Chicago

Paris, France. This iconic city that makes it so hard to ever want to leave Europe. Among many of the excursions that CEA provides, this is by far the most extensive, longest, and most magical of all. To start off our trip, CEA, partnered with Somewhere New, a tour company, met us at St. Pancras station early in the morning in order for us to catch the Eurostar! The ride over was so quick and convenient, minus the wifi (pro tip: never use the wifi on the eurostar)…

Going out of London was somewhat mind boggling because of the way that the city just dissipates. All that is left is the rural beauty with sheep, cows, hills, water, and fresh air. After a ride on the fabulous coach, the world of Wales was right at my fingertips. Our fantastic tour guide gave us tons of interesting information that wasn’t just limited to Wales, but also London. The majesty of Wales was almost eye-opening; being from California this concept of true rural beauty is lost upon me….
