¡Bienvenidos amigos! My name is Amanda and I’ve been a MOJO Blogger and internship student in Seville, Spain for the past two and a half months. Perhaps you’ve read some of my other blog posts about life here in Seville, but I thought it would be a nice change to take time to introduce myself and tell my story. This feels kind of like that moment in Wizard of Oz, when they finally unveil the green curtain to reveal the anassuming person behind the scenes. Okay, well maybe…

Spain is a country full of life. In my opinion, Seville may actually have New York City beat as the city that never sleeps. There is always something to do or see. After spending the past few months in this city, I return from my weekend travels with a sigh of relief as I am back in a place with now familiar people, sounds, and sights. My senses have become adapted to the Spanish culture and I can say that I do truly feel a connection to Seville….

Coming to Barcelona it can be overwhelming trying to discover the delicious local restaurants, or cool hip places to grab a bite to eat when there are new cafes luring you in every step you take. With assistance from some previous students that studied abroad in Barcelona, as well as getting a little lost in the city trying new places, I have compiled a list of a few of my favorite spots to eat including both the traditional Catalan cuisine, as well as restaurants that will give you…

Everything about going to school in Barcelona is amazing: from my walk to class down the beautiful road of Las Ramblas, to the always friendly and helpful staff at the CEA Academic Center. But my favorite part about studying in Barcelona is that I don’t just learn in the classroom. For my Architecture and Painting class, we visited La Sagrada Família and La Pedrera to learn about Gaudí’s architectural style. Through my Spanish class, I had the opportunity to practice the language when we did a conversational activity…

As I was looking through the seemingly endless number of study abroad programs out there, one of the things that first drew me to CEA was the number of excursions they offer. To clear a few questions up that I had coming into this program, these are already included in your program cost, meaning your hotel, meals (except for an occasional need to pack a picnic lunch or have money for one travel meal), tour guides, etc. everything is covered. Excursions could be in your city (ex: tours…

One of the best things about living in a city is that pretty much everywhere is walking distance. Living in Barcelona make city living even more exciting because you get to experience a new culture at the same time. This video features all of my favorite places, from Parc de la Citudella to La Rambla. On a daily basis, I pass these streets and buildings and it makes me realize how lucky I am to be able to study abroad in this beautiful city! Annie M. is the Fall 2017 MOJO…

For someone who started the semester leaving the United States for the first time, it truly amazes me that I have now been to both Europe and Africa. CEA organized an incredible weekend to Morocco that allowed me to experience a part of the world I never thought I would make it to. In a whirlwind of three days and four cities I saw things and met people that I will always remember. Here’s the recap: Day 1: Tétouan After a long journey involving buses, a ferry, and border…

While studying abroad in Barcelona, CEA offers numerous weekend trips or nightly excursions to various locations around Spain; and trust me, you should take advantage of them. Want to know the best part? They are free. That’s right, completely free (already in the cost of your program). So before breaking your bank on one more weekend trip with your friends, save your money and capitalize on the amazing guided getaways CEA has to offer. At the beginning of the semester CEA will host a sign up period for…

When I first told people that I would be studying abroad in Spain I received many comments along the lines of “you’re vegetarian,” as if I had forgotten. I had read up about Spain and the fact did indeed keep popping up that the Spanish were a people who took pride in their Iberian ham and Mediterranean seafood, especially in the more traditional city of Seville. As a vegetarian, this was a bit unnerving. After months of reading blogs and hearing comments from friends, I had pretty much…

We asked our CEA Alumni Ambassadors what they would say if they has 60 seconds to convince a friend to study or intern abroad. In celebration of International Education Week, here are the top 3 reasons you should go abroad. The Friendships “Studying abroad was the best decision I have ever made. You get to travel the world, meet amazing people and go on new adventures while you are studying and learning things that will help you in your future. I never thought I would come back to…
